Describe voice as choices a speaker can follow
A useful voice brief specifies sentence length, vocabulary, level of energy and how directly to address the audience. Avoid vague instructions such as “sound viral.” Choose characteristics that fit your audience and the actual speaker. A calm, direct voice and an energetic voice can both be natural if the words are accurate and comfortable to say aloud.
This is a fictional writing exercise. The example app has project call notes with a next-step section; it is not a customer story or a recorded performance.
Start with a shared factual script
Neutral draft: “After a call, open the project note and check the next-step section. Use that to decide what to do next.” The only product fact is the location of the section. Verify that feature and its labels in your own app. If the section needs manual entry, avoid implying that it appears automatically.
A concise, practical version: “Call finished? Open the note and check the next step.” A warmer version: “When the call wraps up, open your project note. Your next-step section gives you somewhere to start.” Both express the same assumed behavior without making a time-saving claim.
| Dimension | Practical choice | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Vocabulary | Everyday task words | Does the speaker naturally say them? |
| Energy | Calm or upbeat | Does it fit the message? |
| Claim | Name the next-step section | Can the real product show it? |
| Personal experience | Use only if true | Do not invent a testimonial |
Set boundaries for the speaker
Example brief: use short everyday sentences; speak to one viewer; use a relaxed pace; avoid exaggerated promises; show the product action as it is named. Add words your brand genuinely uses and remove phrases your speaker would not naturally say. Review any generated presenter so it does not appear to give a real customer endorsement.
Do not write “I use this every day” or “this saved me hours” for a speaker unless the experience is true and substantiated. A fictional persona can communicate a product explanation without claiming a personal result.
Review delivery against the screen
Read the script aloud and compare each spoken line with the actual product recording. Check captions against the approved transcript and move them if they obscure the important control. Ask a reviewer whether the tone fits the brand and whether the viewer can identify the task.
Record the approved words and observations from an actual review before calling a version tested. The writing examples here do not establish a better-performing voice.
