Translate the release note into a task
“Assignee filter added” describes a feature. “Find the tasks assigned to you in this project” gives an existing user an action. Write the old difficulty and new action before planning scenes.
This example uses a fictional project app with a new assignee filter. It is an editorial exercise, not evidence of a UGC Pilot feature or a customer result.
Prove the exact change
Record the list before filtering, select the current-user option and show the resulting rows. Keep the selection visible as the result changes. If the filter affects only the current project, do not describe workspace-wide search.
Check words such as all, automatic and instant against the release. A narrow statement supported by the screen is better than an expansive promise. If no honest before recording exists, demonstrate the current method without fabricating a slow old experience.
| Decision or state | Example | Review |
|---|---|---|
| New control | Assignee menu in task list | Show its actual location. |
| Selection | Current-user option remains visible | Do not imply automatic filtering. |
| Result scope | Same project, changed rows | Avoid workspace-wide claims. |
| Rollout | Confirmed eligible roles | Hold universal availability wording. |
Make eligibility part of the message
Ask the release owner which plans, roles and rollout groups see the control. A signed-in user can still be ineligible. Check whether mobile or another workspace role has a different interface.
For staged availability, use an owner-confirmed statement and a relevant information path. Do not invite everyone to a control that many cannot see. A help page may be a better next step than a universal “try it now.”
Review versions and adoption
Name the export after the feature and revision. Have an eligible reviewer follow its steps. Ask an ineligible reviewer to check whether the access explanation makes sense. Record actual feedback rather than assuming comprehension.
End with the smallest useful adoption action: open the task list and choose the assignee filter. General signup messaging serves a different audience. Keep the release note and help path available for people who need detail.
