Practical founder guide

Make the transition from reaction footage to app proof understandable

Plan a clear cut from an AI reaction hook to real product footage, with three transition options and a practical timing worksheet.

Pick the frame the viewer needs to understand

The transition is the moment between the reaction and the product proof. It can be a direct cut, a short label, or a brief view of the result before the interaction. The best choice depends on whether the first product frame makes sense without narration. Record the app with a shareable account and identify the earliest frame that shows where the action begins.

For this fictional example, a creator reacts to finding next steps in a call note. The real demo you make would show your own app. No recorded result or performance is implied by this plan.

Choose one of three transitions

A hard cut is suitable when the opening and first app frame already share context: “the next step is right here,” followed by a readable note. Trim dead time before the note appears, but keep enough of the interface to understand what was opened.

A bridge label helps when the app view otherwise arrives without context. Use a brief instruction such as “open the call note,” then show that action. A held-result opening starts with the next-step section before showing how to reach it; use it only when the held frame is genuine footage of the actual product state.

Three ways to join the same fictional sequence
TransitionUse whenCheck before export
Hard cutThe first app frame is self-explanatoryThe relevant screen appears immediately
Bridge labelViewers need to know what was openedThe label does not cover the feature
Result firstThe outcome is visible before its stepsThe shown result is real and reproducible
Re-recordThe starting view is confusingRemove sensitive or private data

Check the handoff at normal speed

On a timeline, label the last reaction frame, the first product frame and the frame where the promised feature is legible. Play the cut without pausing. If the viewer cannot tell what changed, allow a little context or use a bridge label. If the product takes too long to appear, remove an unrelated intermediate screen rather than speeding through information people need.

Captions and the app interface can compete for the same space. Move or shorten a caption if it hides the feature; review the exported video on a phone, not just in a large editor preview. Keep original overlay words editable and check them separately from generated footage.

Choose the transition by clarity

Ask a second person what they expected to see after the reaction and where the feature appeared. A direct cut is simpler only when they can follow it. If all three variants still need an explanation, re-record a clearer starting frame or simplify the hook. A single concrete action is easier to understand than an entire product tour.

Copy the planning worksheet

Use this worksheet in your own notes. Fill it with verified product details and actual review observations before sharing an asset.

Hook ends at __. First app frame shows __. Promised result becomes legible at __. Transition: __. Mobile readability issue: __.
